Stand on Education

The American Patriot Party is for School Choice.

States and local communities and individuals choice of home schooling and private schools are encouraged.

We are for removal of the federal department of education, the tax burden it creates, and removal of its national control of private, state and local community schools as well from home schools.

Isolating the Problems of the Education Bureaucracy.

Providing education to all to the American Patriot Party is very important.

The problem with the federal government with regard to the Department of Education is not the setting of standards, as anyone can set standards and this can as easily be done by the states and counties.

The problem is paying for a double layered bureaucracy; Of which, if that money which is now spent on that second layered bureaucracy, was put toward actual education, and not the salaries and retirement benefits for this federal bureaucracy, schools would have more actual benefit.

We must remember that the federal government gets money from us, skims what it needs to support its many varied programs and bureaucratic benefits, then hands back what is left to the states ...

...That is, IF the states do what the federal government wants them to do in the way they want them to do it. This is a form of bribery (see how bribery relates to this issue below) and a major reason states have their hands tied to make the changes they need, and the money is not there for the people to use on their children's education.

If the people did not give the money away, they would not have to beg to get it back.

By localizing the responsibility, parents and teachers will be more apt to take part in that quality of education within the standards that states and counties provide. There will also arise the old spirit of state education competition (who can produce the smartest kid). Presently, it is a stagnated federal measuring stick with no one allowed to modify or excel.

Public education should not be allowed to suffer at all, this is not the purpose or the goal. By reducing the federal burden, more money can be allotted toward education by state and county born funds and by the individual by sending less to the federal government.

Retaining more money by the individual allows the individual more choices.

The next benefit is, that as money is not lessened at all to public education, the teacher to student ratio increases which provides better one to one education at the public education level.

Another benefit is that as the population grows, this ratio will not increase as much because the students will be better distributed throughout all the educational community, private and public.

On the issue of college, the above explanation also generally applies.

Another thought is that one of the reasons of placing grades 1-8 on basic education and 9-12 in trade education, is that very need to develop real work skills by the time they graduate putting great emphasis on real business skills.

We put far too much emphasis in "jobs" and "finding work" (school and college) when the emphasis should be on business and building a business for ones self; after school or after college.

The goal to be self dependent, not dependent upon others.

One of Thomas Jefferson's worries, was that we would become a industrialized nation where many people would work for the few. This would create a social class division also warned by Thomas Jefferson. He was not against industry, only the imbalance that can come of it.

This class division has greater causes though, one of the greatest being social organizations in a free country (see also Socialism as Defined by the American Patriot Party).

Corporations, unions and open arm unlimited government bureaucracies pull away from true private individual enterprise. They also create regulations to limit competition with individual enterprise (through lobbying, unreal, unobtainable, or extremely difficult standards for individuals - just to limit competition, etc.), government contracts that limits their bids to union labor and corporate bidding contracts, etc..

Placing safeguards against this encroachment, with allowing enactment of highly localized monopoly laws and state standards, instead of federal monopoly laws (another bureaucratic reducement area of the federal government we will be targeting) who wait until a company gets as big as "Ma Bell" before acting; While increasing true private enterprise of the individual by first making room for it, and then educating people to fill that void, will create more competition and more opportunities in all communities.

Effects of Taxation on Education

Taxes, where it is spent and how the community benefits from the tax, comes from establishing laws limiting where it is spent and getting control, so that people can limit the government wherever that control and limitation is needed.

That control does not come from more government or remote government, as this is not working.

This is why local control, State and even more so County, and the involvement of parents locally to direct and control where money is spent is so important.

Right now there is no control; and yes the states are to blame also, but remember states and counties are presently subject to federal imposition.

This does not make things better but worse.

Next is taxation itself, the whole tax system is corrupted; From the way it is collected, and that there is no limits set on general taxation that is arbitrarily decided and pooled for whatever the best lobbyist wishes it to be spent for.

This is the reason we are promoting a new tax system that reduces the federal burden of tax regulation which now costs 600+ billion in regulation to collect approx. 700 billion in direct taxation; not to mention Compliance Costs.

By getting a handle of control on the tax money, you get control of all aspects of government. You are correct by believing there are many causes. However, we find these two problems lay the footwork for all the others and are in need to be remedied first before the others can be solved.

As for the quality of teaching, what better control can you have over that area, than a local system that affords no union protection of teachers that do not know how to teach. You simply fire them.

The American patriot party believes that these are sufficient ways to achieve those goals to achieve quality affordable education available to all.

We believe that to have control where it is needed, you have to get control locally and solve those problems locally.

A good example in history, to establish this viewpoint is from the Rights of the Colonists:

"....The inhabitants of this country in all probability in a few years will be more numerous, than those of Great Britain and Ireland together; yet it is absurdly expected by the promoters of the present measures, that these, with their posterity to all generations, should be easy while their property, shall be disposed of by a house of commons at three thousand miles distant from them; and who cannot be supposed to have the least care or concern for their real interest: Who have not only no natural care for their interest, but must be in effect bribed against it; as every burden they lay on the colonists is so much saved or gained to themselves. ..."

Everything mentioned is presented here. It presents the problem of distant control and the bribery (through taxes) that goes with it, in order to implement that unconcerned control; (Simply voicing concern without actual ongoing knowledge and experience of local conditions is the same as no concern); - for the purpose only of the salaries that can be gained and extra money to be distributed throughout the many varied federal programs that have little to do with education.

Education in Operation

There is generally one very important technique that is almost entirely ignored by the education system and that simple technique is repetition throughout the day. A great violinist does not become great by playing 6 different instruments throughout the day; and a student cannot expect to learn bouncing from one subject to another throughout a single day. The greatness of a master violinist comes from spending long hours on one subject.

The American Patriot Party makes this suggestion for general school day scheduling:

    1.) One day, one subject, one teacher.

    2.) Attention spans are taught, they are not genetically acquired.

    3.) No changing of classes means more time in the class room.

    4.) It takes time to get a child's attention and time to keep it. That in itself is what takes ten minutes at the beginning of each class and ten minutes at the end of each class. Another reason to have only one major class a day besides physical education and manners hour.

    5.) The Declaration of Independence, it's grievances, Rights of the Colonists, Magna Carta, Bill of Rights and Constitution should be taught no less than 1 day a month throughout all 12 years of education.

    6.) 9 years should be for general schooling and 3 years should be for trade college.

    7.) Marriage and family should be encouraged not discouraged (see Facts). Education is no replacement for family; Life is family and friends and is enhanced by freedom and security of certain inalienable rights. Education assists us in life, it is not life. We only live 75 years, if the quest of education exceeds the point of assisting life and begins to needlessly consume time for which to enjoy that which is life, the benefits reverse themselves to the individual; even though they "may" benefit others.

This further education is a personal choice and not to be forced upon any individual or indoctrinated by steady brainwashing that education is the answer to everything; it is not.

We must realize that a uneducated person can enjoy life equally as a educated one; it is a fact.

Many men and women with limited formal education throughout history have excelled and have been far more successful, in life and or in profession, than those that have been highly educated.

Practical real life experience in business and in life, has shown that the greatest contributors to success is owing to simple, basic and practical business skills, good work habits and good work ethics.
