Cows Cascade Siskiyou Monument

The sad thing is that cows are being blamed for Beavers cutting willows for their dams (cows have no upper front teeth) and cows are being blamed for the bank cuts in the creek when it is high winter water flows that cause this naturally. The ironic thing is that they blame cows for the steep cut and the too tapered banks, saying its better to have it narrower! Everything! These people are masters of gibberish.

    Above photo shows typical grazing area in the Proposed Soda Mountain Area being presented as a "National Monument". This needs protecting?

Here are some BLM issues we actually have had to fight against in our area. Its pitiful to think these people went to college; even more pitiful is that these people were actually taught by someone else ... so .....well, ... uneducated and un- knowledgeable to basic common since. You would think they had an alternative agenda. Couldn't they just want the land ...and water.? ...Control and Job Security.?

Blaming cows for eating two inch willow shoots when a cow has no upper teeth ....Beaver? ....you think? Funny, I never heard them mentioned in their reports describing the hundreds of trees it takes to build only one beaver dam. But fence the cows out they did!

Cows creating eight foot cuts in the stream banks hundreds of feet in length .....High fast 8' per second 9-12 foot high winter water flows? ....You Think? Funny, I never heard them mention Natural Water damage that created these canyons in the first place. There is decomposing smooth creek rocks 40' feet above the creek banks. I suppose giant 40' cows roamed here a mere hundred years ago caused this erosion .....But fence the cows out they did!

They blame the cows for making these big cuts, so they fasten cables around oaks to hold cut juniper trees at the other end to slow the water down, and to let the bank taper down, then blame cows for making the bank too tapered because everybody knows, that narrow... "sharp"... banks... are better ....because it doesn't warm the water as much ....Yep! Confused? That their logic.

The 8' bank issue was against 33 pair on 1300 acres of lease land for 4 months blamed for 8' bank cuts ....you would think they had pogo sticks and hopped back and forth along the banks all day long. (it seems by their last complaint that cows on pogo sticks are good)

Forgive me if I am wrong, but didn't huge herds of buffalo eat and run back and forth across streams for hundreds of years.? and wasn't that "Natural"? (not that this has anything to do with this issue)

NO motor Vehicles allowed (but BLM four wheelers are OK several times a week).

That "One" farmer is keeping the Elk from grazing in the green meadows! So lets acquire the ranch and drive our four wheel drives down here, shut off the irrigation, have public nature outings and public bird watcher conventions and open it up to public hunting and fishing and horse back riding ......yeah! that will bring in them elk! ...You Think? (exactly what they did with the acquired Box O Ranch)

Encroachment of Nauseous weeds caused by ...You guessed it COWS! Nothing mentioned about migrating herds of deer however; ....Thousands of them.

No one is that stupid. They are planning to take control of all waterways and as much land as they can. Because times never change. You control the water, you control everything and land management is an illusive item that no one can pin down which makes for a perfect place for a bureaucracy to flourish. No one can tell whether they are doing anything or not, but they can sure say they are. And when something goes wrong its "natures" or the "private citizens fault" and they simply need to regulate more and make more studies. No? ...read on.

They Blame cows are putting too much "pressure" on the grass...then increase the Elk herds (showing they don't really care about pressure on the grass at all).....wonder why? It doesn't take much thought to realize that the government doesn't make much money regulating cows. Elk however make money for the government through licensing and job increasing projects through studying and regulating.

The same with fish. They would rather regulate than stock the streams heavily so every one could catch their fill. They will argue that a "balance" is necessary, then complain there is not enough; and more studies are needed to understand why.....?

Its a fact that if we placed the money we spend on regulation into simply hiring private enterprise to plant trees, to stock the streams with fish and use animal husbandry to raise the wildlife...there would be no need for regulation. The forests and streams would be teaming with fish and game.
